Pups Over the Pacific
Help Give Our Island Dogs a New Leash on Life!
A4A is dedicated to giving at-risk pups a second chance—rescuing them from euthanasia and helping them begin new lives with loving rescue partners across the U.S. West Coast and Eastern Canada.
Through our Pups Over the Pacific program, we coordinate the placement and transport of highly adoptable dogs from Hawaiʻi County Animal Control to trusted rescue organizations in Oregon, Washington, California, and Eastern Canada—and beyond. Every few weeks, as funding allows, we send dogs on their journey to safety and brighter futures. In 2025 alone, more than 70 dogs have been flown out of Hawaiʻi County Animal Control, where euthanasia rates are 65–75%.
Our mission is simple: to move as many at-risk dogs as possible out of danger and into loving homes—no matter the cost.

We need your help to get these pups to their new lives!
We're raising funds to cover everything these pups need for their big journey, including:

Vet Exam & Health Certificate
Travel Crate
Airline/Transport Fees
Each pup costs approximately $450 to get to the mainland west coast and $600 to get to Canada.

Any donor who donates $200 or more will receive a custom 12"x12" canvas of the pup you sponsored (or select one of the existing portraits), created by the talented local artist Eliza Marks (Art By Eliza). You will receive special recognition with your name posted on our annual Platinum Donor page.

Fly-Outs to West Coast
We partner with several amazing rescues in Washington, Oregon, and California. With these rescues, our dogs are adopted quickly- often within weeks, and go on to live incredibly happy lives. We love receiving updates of them out on hikes, enjoying pup cups, and relaxing in cozy dog beds with their favorite bones.
The cost to send each pup to the West Coast is approximately $450.
Fly-Outs to Montreal, Canada
We may be sending more dogs to Canada in Spring 2026. Stay tuned!!!
All the dogs sent in the last few years are in fabulous homes!
Each pup going to Canada costs approximately $600, so we are looking for 3 sponsors per dog.
