Helping Community Friends
Action 4 Animals Hawaii works closely with community members and County of Hawaii Animal Control to try to save as many dogs as possible. It is always challenging when our furry family members need to find a new home, for one reason or another. To help ensure that animals do not end up in shelters, this section is for pups in need of re-homing that are currently being housed by interim owners, who cannot keep them long term. If you see a dog listed below that you are interested in adopting or fostering, please let us know and we will put you in contact with the applicable owner(s).

Aloha I’m Hoku, a female, spayed and microchipped beagle mix. I don’t know exactly how old I am, but someone mentioned between 8-10 years old. I still have a lot of bounce in my step, and love to hang out with my bestie PupPup, a chihuahua mix. We’ve been together most of our lives. He’s a lot like me.
We love our human mom, but she died and can’t take care of us. We were her family, along with 2 other rescued dog sisters. We all get along great.
I’m pretty chill, love to be near my human parent, whether it’s on the couch, or outdoors working in the yard. I’m used to being indoors and sleep most of the time, until I can go out to do my business (if you know what I mean).
I am a slow eater.
I have a small fatty cyst on my belly, but I am otherwise healthy. My left ear is floppy and doesn’t stand up like my right ear. Likes to chase lizards outside, knows sit command

Aloha, my name is PupPup, and I’m a neutered male, chihuahua mix. I think I’m somewhere around 10 years old and weigh about 10 lbs. My dog sister in the photo is Hoku and we’ve spent most of our lives together.
I tend to be the loud one, after all, that’s what small dogs are; and I eat fast, although you will have to remind me to not grab any treats you may hand feed me. I just get excited to know I’m getting something special.
I’m used to being indoors and sleep with my bestie Hoku. I’ll do my business outside. I enjoy hanging out with my human parent, and do like being on their lap, but am happy to just be close. Knows sit command.

Hello, I’m Pearl, a spayed female, hound/terrier mix. Google thinks I’m part Kelpie. I’m sweet and mostly calm, smart, very affectionate and can be playful.
My sister Patches and I play together a lot since we share a kennel during the day. But that’s only because our human isn’t there for us. I love to be close to my human, and have been known to ‘spoon’ if allowed on the bed. I’m a great hugger too. I am a fast eater, enjoy exploring my fenced yard. I love food, and getting treats.
The across the street neighbor was going to take me to the humane society when my human rescued me. She is the only Momma I’ve known, and now I need a new home that will care for and love me. I will be loyal and love them too.

Hi, I’m Patches, a spayed female terrier/hound mix. I’m about 5 yrs old I think, and weigh about 35 lbs. I’m energetic, love to run and play, am smart too. Oh, and I think I’m pretty cute too, don’t you agree? My lip gives me character……my previous human didn’t think I should see a dr when I got it caught on the fence. I didn’t like him, he didn’t treat me very good. So please forgive me if it takes me a little more time to trust you, especially if you are male. After that, I can be very loyal and affectionate.
I do eat really fast, so I have a special bowl that I eat from. When I’m finished, I’ll go to my sisters’ and brothers’ bowls and see if they left anything for me. I really love my treats and will sit very nice to get a treat.
I can be in a kennel during the day as long as I have room to run a little bit, but my preference is to be next to my human, exploring my fenced yard, chasing lizards, giving and getting lots of love and attention. I currently share a kennel during the day with my sister Pearl, until someone comes to let us out and to feed us. I’m very content to lay on the floor next to my human, give loving kisses and getting love and affection.
