Rainbow Friends

A4A Hawaii is focusing on the "Emptying the Sanctuary" campaign at Rainbow Friends Animal Sanctuary.We bring Rainbow dogs to our adoption events, we give them basic training, and a select group of dogs are part of our fly-outs to the continental US and Canada where they have more opportunity to find furever homes. Several dogs have participated in the University of Hawaii at Hilo's Pet Therapy Program which was launched in Spring 2023 and was a huge success with students and staff. A4A sponsors all of the Rainbow dogs we take under our 'paw" so any donations help tremendously in all that we do to make them more adoptable.

Prince

Friends and families please meet Prince. And what a charmer he is! This young lad is full of joy and ready for human connection. He is just coming out of his shell so would be better with someone willing to spend time interacting with him and letting him know that humans are fun to be with. If you’re looking for a forever friend and partner to hike, camp, and snuggle with, then consider this Prince Charming He is able to walk on a leash and so full of joy. He is not rambunctious, rather he is eager to please. This prince will love you forever.

Oreo

Boy

Oreo is gentle, sweet, loves people, and going on walks (he’s so easy to walk!). Oreo deserves to be in a loving home because he’s a great dog. Oreo is an 8 to 11 year-old big hunk of love, who would be perfect for someone looking for a couch potato. He’ll comfort you when you are sad and put a smile on your face with his goofy grin. His fur is also super soft! He came back to us from a home where he was much loved but one day showed too much interest in the landlady’s peacocks. His adopter was very sad and hopes he will soon find a forever home without peacocks. Oreo is good with most dogs and could probably learn to live with cats, but is not good with chickens.

A pawsome middle-aged girl who loves to swim and run. Great with other dogs, needs a bit of leash training.

Roxie

Girl

You may recognize her as the therapy dog at on campus at UHH. She is verrry popular, and students line up to pet her. This chunky monkey is sweet girl who will give you infinite smiles with her wiggle skills. She is a people-magnet who will be your best friend from the second you meet her. Roxy spent an unknown time at animal control before coming to the sanctuary about a year and a half ago. She is beautiful and stunning. Roxy loves all people, and is always excited to see you. She does not bark or jump up. She is a total wiggle bum and a wonderful, loving dog!! She is also good with tweens and fairly easy to walk on leash. She would do best in a home as the only pet.

Rocco

Boy

Rocco is a chill dog and medium sized. He is polite around other dogs, children, and people. He does get excited around chickens and birds when he was at the park, and other times, avoids them without a thought. He enjoys sitting by your feet, camping, sleeping in a tent, and swimming in the ocean. He deserves a good home.

Angel

Gir

Angel is a volunteer favorite and the latest Pet therapy dog at UHH. This gorgeous pittie mix is so sweet, full of life, and has so much love to give. Angel is 3-4 years old, about 65 lbs. She loves people, knows how to sit, and likes to play fetch (still working on the return with the toy part). She is also a sucker for belly rubs and kisses. She loves stuffy toys and chews. Angel is really hoping her person is out there looking for her. She would be happiest as your only pet. Come meet Angel!
