The kitty protectors. The guardians. We save them, and they save us!

It takes a TON of people to help Action 4 Animals save over 600 lives a year. Everyone has their places, their job, and all our jobs are important. There are several big, ongoing needs, but we are always open to new skills and special helpers!
Below are the primary job descriptions on The Kitty Kahu side of the house.
Fosters
Action 4 Animals Hawaii is a foster-based rescue.
Each foster parent is assigned a "mentor", but we are all here to help.
REQUIREMENTS FOR FOSTER PARENTS:
- Willingness to follow A4A foster guidelines
- Ability to give medications daily and as needed
- Good communication skills - preferably text message-friendly
- Ability to take cats to appointments and adoption events
- Basic organization skills
- Will not take in foster cats without asking, and will not foster any animals except Action 4 Animals without prior approval
- While we do get some donations, fosters are often required to provide some food and cat litter for their foster animals
ACTION 4 ANIMALS PROVIDES:
- A foster kit with fostering basics
- A foster handbook (link below)
- A foster mentor who can guide and support you
- Medications as needed
- Spay/neuter support
- Avenues for adoption
- A great group of people to be a part of!

Petco Helpers
We couldn't do what we do without our Petco Helpers!
Each day someone from our organization goes to Petco in Hilo and checks on the kitties, cleans their space, and re-ups their food and litter. This is a great, valuable volunteer job that we couldn't do without!
Community Cat Helpers
Unfortunately, our island is innodated with community cats. They are in public spaces as well as homes where people have just become overwhelmed. Our Community Cat Helpers are the key to making a difference in that segment of the cat world. Feeding, which leads to TNR, which leads to smaller populations. If this mission has a place in your heart, we'd love to have you join us.
